Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Encounter handles information. Support and privacy contact: otherseasonwork@gmail.com.

Notes, photos and text

The current version processes note images on your device, using Apple Vision for text recognition and subject segmentation. Note images, text, paper templates, edits and usage state are stored locally. Except when you choose to share content or send feedback, the current version does not proactively upload note photos or text to developer servers or third-party cloud recognition services.

In-app notes retain the processed content, without a separate long-term copy of the original capture. If you keep a whole photo as a note, it may still include the entire scene. Older data may contain historical originals. With the default Save Originals to Photos setting enabled and system permission granted, every photo taken inside Encounter starts saving as an uncropped photo to the Encounter album in Apple Photos. This does not depend on saving a note or setting wallpaper; leaving or canceling the editor does not cancel that save. You can turn this off in app settings for future captures. Imported photos are not saved again, and cutout notes are not automatically saved to Photos. You can still choose to export a wallpaper.

If album organization fails, the original may be saved only to the Photos library; the app reports the actual result. During saving, the app temporarily keeps a local original for retries and removes it after a successful save. Failed saves are not automatically discarded when you leave the editor or turn off automatic saving: they remain until a retry succeeds and cleanup completes, or you uninstall the app. Temporary files are excluded from note migration and marked to be excluded from system backups. If a temporary file cannot be written, the retry copy may exist only in memory and may be lost when the app closes; the app asks you to keep it open and retry. Photos and in-app notes are managed separately.

Recognition and cutouts can be inaccurate. Check important text and image content.

Permissions and Photos

Taking photos requires camera permission. Reading photos, saving originals or wallpapers, and organizing albums use system photo permissions as needed for the operation. Limited photo access may affect album organization. You can change permissions in system settings; refusing permission affects the related feature but does not require you to provide other private information.

Wallpapers and Shortcuts

You can export a wallpaper and set it manually, or install the companion Apple shortcut for one-tap setting. The shortcut uses an identifier for the current operation to retrieve the specific image you confirmed and passes it to system functionality on your device. Others may see your Lock Screen content; choose it carefully.

System services and backups

On-device processing does not mean data can never leave your device. iCloud Photos, device or computer backups, and exports or sharing you initiate may store or sync content. These are governed by your settings and the relevant service providers.

When you use system keyboard dictation, Apple’s system features and your settings control speech processing. The app itself does not record audio and does not promise that system dictation is always offline.

Purchases and subscriptions

Apple StoreKit handles purchases. The app reads verified transaction and subscription status to provide the associated access. You do not provide payment-card details to the developer. The current app has no separate registration account. Apple services have their own terms and privacy policies.

Retention and deletion

Notes remain in local app data until you delete them or remove the relevant data using the app’s controls. Archiving is not deletion; notes in use may need to be removed from active use first. The app may retain historical note identifiers that do not contain paper content.

Deleting notes does not automatically delete copies in Photos, system wallpapers, exported files or backups. Uninstalling the app does not mean those copies disappear. Manage them separately.

Support emails and test feedback

When you contact us, we receive your email address, problem description and any attachments you send, only to handle your request and necessary follow-up. Gmail transmits and stores emails. Please redact sensitive content before sending it.

Support feedback is handled by the Encounter developer. Ordinary feedback emails and attachments are retained for 90 days after the issue is resolved, then deleted. You may use otherseasonwork@gmail.com to ask about or request deletion of support information you provided. This rule does not cover notes, photos or backups on your phone.

If you use a TestFlight beta, Apple may provide crash information, usage information and your submitted feedback to the developer under its TestFlight rules.

This website

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. The pages we author contain no ads, analytics scripts, upload forms or custom cookies. Hosting and network services may process IP addresses, browser information, access times and request logs for page delivery and security. Providers manage those records and their retention; the 90-day support-email rule does not apply. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. Visiting this website does not let it read notes stored in your Encounter app.

Your choices and requests

You can manage notes, permissions and backups on your device. For support information you send us, contact the email above to request access, correction or deletion, or raise privacy concerns. We handle requests according to applicable requirements and may verify their source to the extent necessary. We cannot remotely read or delete notes stored only on your device. Third-party system, email and hosting services may process information outside your region; please also consult their privacy notices. This policy does not limit your legal rights.

Changes and contact

If cloud recognition, image processing or note syncing is added in the future, before enabling it we will explain the content uploaded, purposes, recipients, retention and deletion, and let you make an explicit choice. Updating the app or policy alone will not cause existing notes to be uploaded by default.

If data practices change, we will update this policy and its effective date. A policy update does not replace any permission that needs to be obtained. For privacy questions, contact otherseasonwork@gmail.com.
